You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the OFFICE OF THE STAFF JUDGE ADVOCATE of USMC RECRUITING COMMAND.
Duties
You will select, assemble, summarize, and compile substantive and comprehensive legal and administrative information in order to prepare legal, advisory briefings, information papers, and memoranda.
You will implement and administer the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) program for the Command, serving as the principal point of contact on FOIA/PA matters.
You will provide guidance on how to process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA)requests and the scope of FOIA/PA exemptions.
You will maintain all required physical and electronic files in accordance with relevant orders, regulations, and statutes.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Working knowledge of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the Manual for Courts-Martial, the Manual for the Judge Advocate General of the Navy, and the Marine Corps Separation and Retirement Manual;
2) Applying legal skills and knowledge necessary to draft and prepare sound briefing and information papers, opinions, conclusions, and recommendations;
3) Familiarity with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)/Privacy Act (PA) applicable regulations, statutes, or guidelines, including all FOIA exceptions, procedural issues, legal interpretations, decisions, and precedents surrounding FOIA and PA processing; and
4) Applying knowledge of research methods to include the use of statutes, directives, instructions, regulations, orders, digests, documentaries, commentaries, legal instruments, case law and other legal and administrative reference material to respond to issues presented.
