About the Position: Serve as Executive Assistant at U.S. ARMY Futures & Concepts Center Deputy Director/Chief of staff in Fort Eustis, VA.

Duties

Serves as Executive Assistant for Director Futures and Concepts Center (FCC) and Commanding General (DCG), Futures, Army Futures Command (AFC). Performance of work requires an extensive knowledge of the DIRECTOR/CSM policies, views, and special interests including official social obligations. Maintains calendars for the Director exercising control over appointments, with authority for commitments of time. In coordination with XO and SGS, accepts or declines invitations to meetings and arranges for representation by subordinate officials. Develops comprehensive plans for the internal and external integration of day-to-day and long-range projects. Manages staff actions, determines status, prioritizes events, and provides comprehensive status briefs. Develops and maintains the Director and CSM’s long-range calendar. Responsible for the proper handling of travel and itineraries, to include preparing travel orders and arrangements for airline, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, and meeting/events schedule. Furnishes background material as requested based on own experience and knowledge of similar cases and establishes precedents.

  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • The incumbent will be required to travel TDY approximately 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) developing briefing materials for executive level meetings; 2) review responses, reports and memoranda to develop consolidated responses on behalf of senior officials; AND 3) coordinate and prepare travel orders, vouchers and travel arrangements, to include plans, itineraries, and other information needed for the trip. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
