Duties

As a SECURITY SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties:

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen

  • This is a Drug Testing designated position
  • Position is a (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under U.S.C. 1601
  • Work Schedule: Full Time

  • Telework Eligibility: This position is telework eligible, but is not a full time telework position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a routine basis.
  • If selected, the incumbent must obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as indicated in job announcement.
  • Experience with Security Operations training; facilitate CUI, INFOSEC and OPSEC information in a classroom environment or during various security awareness events.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG 07 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Interpreting DoD regulations, manuals, and Operating Instructions for the Information Security & CUI, OPSEC, and Disclosure Programs. Originating, drafting, reviewing, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies and procedures. Ensuring compliance with Security policies related to OPSEC, INFOSEC, CUI, and Disclosure. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: .Communications-Communicate (i.e., written, and oral) rights, responsibilities, management directives, policies, and/or regulations to employees, supervisors, and/or other pertinent individuals. Security Program Management Accountabilities-Manages security implications (e.g., strategic, personnel, infrastructure, policy enforcement, emergency planning, and other resources) for a program or other area of responsibility. Customer Service-Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement. Interpersonal Skills-Develops and maintains effective working relationships, especially in difficult situations. Engages and inspires others. Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different audiences/ situations/cultures. Actively solicits feedback. Security-Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, including the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information and proper reporting of security incidents. Integrity/Honesty-Contributes to maintaining the integrity of the organization; displays high standards of ethical conduct and understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization, self, and others; is trustworthy.

Education


If substituting education for experience, at the GG-07 level, you must possess a bachelor's or equivalent degree. For the GG-09 level, a Master's or equivalent degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such as degree or LL.B. or J.D.

Superior Academic Achievement does not apply to DCIPS positions.
If substituting education for experience, transcripts MUST be provided. Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.
