This position serves as Program Support Assistant (Social Work-OA) GS-0303-06 assigned to Social Work Service at the VA Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS). The Veterans Affairs Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS) is a Level 1c facility and ranks among a complex system in the VA serving the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21).
Duties
The incumbent performs a variety of administrative support for the Homeless Program Coordinator and social Work Service. The support duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Interprets administrative policies, assists in developing local policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), defines administrative requirements, and/or provides information
Prepares, edits, and archives all official correspondence requiring signatures or approvals.
Handles numerous requests for information such as the status of reports, suspense dates, etc.
Provides administrative support, information management, and necessary coordination to ensure the flow of communication, information, correspondence, and statistical data
Establishes internal procedures to secure adequate control regarding deadlines, progress reports, and directives and uses own initiative in developing procedures that will increase the general flow of information, and access to care and overcome bottlenecks in the administrative process.
Ensures accurate, timely, and consistent entry of information in appropriate databases(s)
Performs all aspects of timekeeping
Serves as ADPAC and is the point of contact for reported electronic (hardware/software) needs, equipment needs, difficulties, and failures
Establishes procedures to monitor trends and expenses and communicates budget concerns
Monitors availability of and orders necessary routine supplies, services, and equipment
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/31/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade at any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: managing records, performing administrative tasks, and creating and processing reports.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is performed by sitting, standing, bending, and stooping. The
employee is required to obtain records from files and carry files, manuals, and other light objects up to 20 pounds. Occasional travel in the community to attend meetings and events when determined to be necessary and appropriate.
