About the Position:
This is a Term appointment, not-to-exceed 13 months with provisions to extend up to 8 years. There are no provisions to be made permanent without further competition,
Duties
Performs a variety of procedural clerical and technical duties associated with services necessary for personnel screening.
Establishes and maintains all required forms, records and files pertaining to assigned work.
Retrieves data from various information sources, both manual and electronic.
Conducts Military Personnel Records processing functions.
Operates a variety of electronic systems comprised of hardware and software components.
Independently composes correspondence pertaining to personnel administration with information from personnel records.
Performs recurring personnel transactions for voluntary and involuntary officer and enlisted separations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience required at the GS-06:
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: 1) Performing clerical or technical work supporting personnel screening in areas such as fingerprinting, submission of initial investigation data/requests, hiring actions, and youth programs; 2) Reading and/or interpreting regulations, rules, guidelines, and/or other procedural instructions; and 3) Preparing correspondence, reports and other documents using word processing software and/or other automated applications
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
