Duties

Advise the supervisor regarding complicated physical security inspection/survey procedures, security related legal matters, and jurisdictional problems peripheral to or beyond the guidance provided by the higher headquarters. Prepare clear and concise evaluation reports substantiating findings and recommendations for corrective action for the Physical Security program. Conduct physical security site-surveys to determine and identify state-of-the-art electronic Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and components, and technical security equipment, required for the protection of Assets.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • This position is designated as Sensitive-Non Critical with access to secret material.
  • Work may require periodic qualification/certification with a firearm.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid government driver's license.
  • Fluctuating tours of duty may be required.

Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Compile, analyze, and summarize information relating to the designated security requirements for the organization. Develop plans for the Physical Security program and define the level of security risk involved for each plan. Develop the costs for implementation of different options and recommend the best course of action to meet the objectives. Or Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Or Have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Physical SecurityPlanning and EvaluatingProblem SolvingSelf Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
