About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, Command Group, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL.

Duties

Arranges meetings with U.S., foreign government officials, and business activities to discuss protocol procedures and plans. Monitors official visits and makes immediate decisions and adjustments to limit interruption or inconvenience to visitors. Assists in organizing security clearances requirements, scheduling facilities, equipment and support personnel, and translation coordination to meet the protocol program requirements. Issues formal invitations that include seating arrangements, menus, and payment methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 15% or less of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/or requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience to the next lower grade (GS/GG-09) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience with 1) implementing program protocol procedures involving officials from various levels of government both foreign and domestic; 2) assisting in organizing itineraries such as tours, schedules, transportation, and/or security arrangements; AND 3) assisting with monitoring official visits that support protocol plans. OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Political Science, International Relations, Business Administration/Management (list is not inclusive). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
