You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY PROGRAMS AND INFO MANAGEMENT BRANCH of HQ US MARINE CORPS.

Duties

You will process request for personnel security investigation, conducting prescreening interviews and taking fingerprints, conducting security indoctrination briefing and debriefing as required. You will manage electronic and paper files. You will maintain classified inventories and personnel check-in and check-outs. You will provide guidance and consultation to the command to security coordinators under the direction of the manager. You will maintain proactive positive relationships with Security Coordinator Personnel throughout the command.

Requirements

• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Investigative actions and involves the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various security database and office automation work requiring a knowledge of security policies and procedures. GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Processing requests for personnel security investigations, conducting pre-screening interviews and taking fingerprints; processing request for access to classified information. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09:

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

GS-07:

1 full year of graduate level education

or

superior academic achievement
