Serves as an ATCS (Terminal Instructor) at the FAA Academy. Instructors have responsibilities which require highly specialized training, significant managerial skills, specific technical qualifications and detailed proficiency representative of the air traffic control occupational workforce. Possesses a high degree of human relations and communication skills, which enables the individual to function as an agency role model for both new and current FAA employees.

Duties

Performs a variety of professional air traffic control functions in the area of course instruction and evaluations delivered in an academic and simulated air traffic environment related specifically to basic air traffic, Tower Cab, and Terminal Radar Approach Control. The incumbent provides instruction and/or evaluation in one, some, or all of the courses dependent on previous field facility level (9-12) experience.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Successful completion of security investigation may be required.
  • Must submit FAA Form 3330-43, "Rating of Air Traffic Experience".
  • The employee must sign a Career Enhancement Assignment Agreement, as appropriate.
  • *Eligible for pay retention, if applicable, in accordance with FAA policy.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS/FG-13 (FV-I). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experienceincludes: Experience in an air traffic facility, specifically related to programs and systems used to support the NAS; experience that provides comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations, etc; experience that provides an in-depth understanding of terminal/tower programs and procedures critical for successful execution.Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
