This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will work as an Electrical Integrated Systems Mechanic for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer, Operations Division, Physical Support Branch, Plant Section located at Ensley Engineering Yard.

Duties

Repair multiple integrated, computerized systems, programmable logic control (PLC) systems, microprocessor based digital equipment and associated analog systems. Troubleshoot multiple integrated, computerized systems, programmable logic control (PLC) systems, microprocessor based digital equipment and associated analog systems. Maintain multiple telephone systems used agency-wide which includes both electronic KSU's and PABX's plus older 1A2 KSU's and KTU's, electronic/hybrid/lA2telephone instruments and all wiring for these systems. Check modulation, sensitivity, current consumption, frequency measurement, deviation and power output of UHF and VHF transmitters. Evaluate all aspects of newly developed electronics and data collection systems to integrate state of the art equipment into the network.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic; which includes assisting in installing, maintaining, and repairing LAN cabling and connectors. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. NOTE: Management would prefer an incumbent to have Diploma / certificate / degree from a trade / tech school in Electronics or Industrial Controls Technology, OR Certification / License of Master or Journeyman Electrician. If you possess this diploma/certificate/degree, please attach it with your application. PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves standing, climbing and bending in occasionally cramped and awkward positions. Continually handles objects weighing from 5 to 40 pounds and occasionally objects over 40 pounds. Occasional climbing and work in high places is required. WORKING CONDITIONS While on land, work is done inside and outside. Inside work is done in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area and work outside is normally done in good weather. However, in emergency situations, work is performed under poor weather conditions. While shipboard, incumbent will be required to live aboard the vessel and work the prevailing shift schedule. The work environment involves considerable risk to potentially dangerous situations, including exposure to high voltage and working aboard floating plant with the risk of drowning. There is exposure to cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones and dangers of slipping from ladders and work stands.
