Provides clerical, assistant, or technician level support from within and Administrate Office of from within a functional component such as the Human Resources Office, the Budget Office, the Purchasing Office, or a comparable setting.

Duties

Major Duties: Performs work in direct support of an administrative area such as human resources, budget, procurement, purchasing, management analysis, or operating program analysis. Performs budget administration support, financial systems support, payroll, cash process, voucher examination, or accounting technician work. Examines, verifies, and maintains financial accounts and accounting data and classifies accounting transactions including the verification of the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data. Determines the nature of errors and makes adjustments in the correct appropriation to a variety of interrelated accounts. Maintains control of receipts and disbursements. Analyzes documents for accuracy and authorization. Summarizes transactions and prepares control documents or other posting documents reflecting the entries to be made. Incumbent has technical responsibility for the maintenance, auditing, and reconciliation of the general and subsidiary ledger accounts, for the preparation of accurate and timely reports, and for the control of funds. Researches, interprets, and verifies which appropriation and general ledger accounts a document and subsequent accounting transaction will affect; establishes routines for input of these transactions. Provides clerical, assistant, or technician level support from within and Administrate Office of from within a functional component such as the Human Resources Office, the Budget Office, the Purchasing Office, or a comparable setting. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday Compressed/Flexible: Compressed tour available to high qualified applicants Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/25/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: knowledge of a wide of various accounting, budget, or other financial regulations, laws, and requirements, knowledge of a variety of accounting and budget functional areas and their relationships to other functions to research or investigate problems, knowledge of automated accounting and budget systems, and knowledge of extensive and diverse accounting, budget, and other financial regulations.. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: -Financial Systems -Accounting Operations -Analytical Thinking -Attention to Detail Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
