The Information Receptionist (Office Automation) position is assigned to the Veteran Experience Office located at the Veterans Healthcare Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Please note, this position requires much physical effort. Standing, walking, transporting patients, and safe patient handling are required daily.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Serves as the initial and final point of contact for guests and patients entering and leaving the facility and is the key influence towards patient/public perception.
Pulls daily admission statistics and reviews number of patients to be visited.
Collects patient feed-back using comment cards from, both in-person and over the phone; uploads the information daily and ensures the integrity of the information remains intact.
Serves a liaison between patients and services and take action to resolve issues on-the-spot that are within the realm of responsibility, all in a manner that creates loyalty and improves patient and customer satisfaction.
Performs customer service guest relations, shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, politeness, respect, and dignity to others; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations.
Greets and directs telephone callers and in-person, provides information about the organization; provides assistance and wayfinding to ease the experience of the patient, customer and visitors.
Operates computer and photocopy machine to copy forms, letters, etc., assuring the protection of sensitive data, both printed and electronic files.
Transports patients from their vehicles to their destination from ward-to-ward or ward to clinic, and back to their vehicle at discharge.
Performs other duties as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
And, in addition to the Typing Proficiency requirement, applicant(s) must meet one of the following:
EXPERIENCE: Requires one year of general experience defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED):Successfully completed 2 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
-OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of one year) and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work will require walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items and occasionally assisting with a wheelchair while performing the duties of the Veteran Experience
Programs. In some instances, relationships with patients can become intense and the employee is constantly placed in a position of stress. Work is in direct contact with patients and healthcare staff in a health care setting.
