The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Mission Support Director for the 8th Field Investigations Region, exercising management authority over the Region's Command Staff Operations, assisting leadership with the accomplishment of the organizations mission, and representing Region Commander at various Major Command, Combatant Command, and United States Space Force senior leader meetings.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of AFOSI, 8th Field Investigations Region entire Mission Support function servicing operating locations. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents 8th Field Investigations Region Commander with a variety of Agency, COCOM, MAJCOM, installation, and functional area organizations and senior leaders. Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for operations programs to ensure services and functions are in line with agency, MAJCOM, and COCOM goals and mission requirements. Provides direct support to planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of 8th Field Investigations Region with direct oversight of unit training, readiness, and plans functions.

  • The incumbent must undergo an internal background investigation by AFOSI and must be approved for duty by the Commander of AFOSI or the Commanders designated representative(s).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes expert analyst of Air Force, DoD, and federal financial, personnel, logistics, communications, information technology, safety, security, and information management policies, procedures, regulations, and requirements. Mastery of a wide array of qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness and managerial processes and systems. Plans, organizes, and directs multi-discipline team studies and analysis for implementation of process improvement recommendations and or substantive program changes to meet developing and evolving mission sets of departmental customers (i.e., United States Space Force). Expert comprehension and understanding of command goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key program events and milestones, and methods of evaluating the worth of program accomplishments. Exceptional networking capability across internal and external stakeholders spanning a vast array of military organizations, federal agencies, and Congressional Delegations. Assesses new and modified legislation for projected impact to agency programs and resources and/or translating basic legislation into program goals, actions, and services. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge, at a mastery level, of Air Force, DoD, and federal financial, personnel, logistics, communications, computers, and information management processes. Ability to develop supplementation to higher headquarters resource management policy and provide an authoritative source of advice and assistance for region and field commanders in the practice of sound resource management practices. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures to develop logistics annexes to plans, to obtain supplies and equipment for the region, and provide travel assistance to personnel. 3. Knowledge, at a mastery level, of Air Force logistics management policies and procedures to develop logistics annexes to plans and orders, programming plans, and general support, contingency, and exercise plans. 4. Knowledge of the missions, functions, goals, objectives, work processes, and sources of funding of budget activities in order to relate needs and accomplishments of services activities to anticipated and actual dollar figures in the budget. 5. Ability to analyze, plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
