Duties
Duties for the Pharmacist (Pharmaceutical Procurement) will include but are not limited to the following:
Reviewing all medication requests and developing acquisition plans, ensuring adequate inventory.
Determining appropriate pharmaceuticals for ordering and advising prescribers regarding the availability of alternative therapies.
Reviewing quotes from vendors for accuracy and completeness to ensure requirement are met.
Reviewing contracts for technical accuracy, work directives, and other ordering instruments.
Inspecting and evaluating services delivered by the contractor and making recommendations to the Contracting Officers regarding their acceptability.
Conducting negotiations where technical input is necessary, recommending/requesting subsequent modifications/changes.
Establishing and maintaining internal and external customer relations in support of a robust and secure medication-delivery infrastructure.
Overseeing aspects of sourcing, procuring, and distributing drugs to other pharmacy sections, Institutes and Centers.
Requirements

- Specials safety precautions and protective gear and clothing may be required in the clinical areas.
- If selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE Form 450 to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Pharmacist (Pharmaceutical Procurement), GS-0660, you must:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
B. A bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and a substantial record of experience and achievement that demonstrates competence in the pharmacy field. Individuals who qualify based on this option will be subject to a comprehensive evaluation of both their education and experience prior to final appointment.
AND
License: An active current license as a pharmacist in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: modifying or adapting standards operating procedures, monitoring of drug information activities to include shortages, availability, offering advice and communicating availability status to requesters, adjusting drug inventory level to ensure adequate inventory is available at all time, and extensive knowledge of automated drug inventory systems to include SCRPIT PRO and Omnicell, scheduling.
