Duties

As a Supervisory Pharmacist working in the Informatics Section within the Pharmacy Department, your major duties will include but are not limited to: Serving as a recognized subject matter expert on informatics and information technology systems related to pharmacy practice and using technical expertise to develop and interpret policies to assure a safe medication use system throughout the Clinical Center (CC). Collaborating with hospital IT and pharmacy leadership to optimize the use of Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), automation solutions, and electronic health record (EHR) platforms as well as CC systems and NIH big data collaboration initiatives (BTRIS). Developing new approaches, methods, or techniques in resolving system problems. Evaluating the performance and functions of existing Pharmacy information technology and requirements relative to current and future mission requirements. Providing training for departmental and other professional and technical staff who are engaged in the build, maintenance, testing and use of these systems.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidates: Informatics Supervisory Pharmacy: For this position, the highly desired candidate will have post-graduate residency training and/or at least 3-5 years of pharmacy informatics experience. Basic Qualifications: A. Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. OR B. Applicants who have a bachelor's degree in pharmacy may also qualify contingent upon an additional review of your qualifications. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Specialized Experience: In order to meet the minimum qualifications for the position described above you must have at least one year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following: Developing new approaches, methods or techniques in resolving operational pharmacy informatics support including software customization; providing consultative support for medication inventory catalog maintenance; managing databases and training systems; and performing troubleshooting of interfaces between clinical information systems and pharmacy automation technologies.
