Air Reserve Technicians are full-time civilian employees who are also members of the Air Force Reserve unit in which they are employed. In addition to their civilian assignments, they are assigned to equivalent positions in the Reserve organization with a Reserve military rank or grade. Appointee's civilian assignments will consist of the following duties.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is as an Air Force Reserve Technician (ART) Officer to serve as the Senior ART/Commander of the Logistics Readiness Squadron. Functions as the senior technical advisor as well as the supervisor of the logistics readiness operations including but not limited to: readiness, logistics planning, resource management, supply and transportation support, procedures and systems; etc. Provides training to reservists in the accomplishments of the tasks set forth herein. Duties: Serve as the focal point for squadron/wing logistics readiness support for contingencies, peacetime and deployment requirements. Provide technical advice and assistance to wing leadership on business processes and performance and efficiency of logistics readiness functions of the squadron/wing. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities As the squadron's senior technical advisor on logistics readiness and AEF issues, performs/leads studies, and provides technical advice and assistance on development and implementation of readiness mission capabilities. Represent the wing regarding logistics readiness issues at meetings within the organization and at conferences with MAJCOM, HQ USAF, DoD, and other agencies. Plans, organizse, and maintains oversight of the activities ensuring the planning efforts and work products and services of all the squadron functions comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret/SSBI security clearance.
  • PCS expenses if authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations

  • Must sign a mobility agreement
  • Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes providing effective management of logistics readiness and overall responsibility for the management of air terminal operations and all squadron level contingency support requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 grade/level or equivalent position in the federal service. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of federal and agency logistics concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and regulations applicable to a full range of logistics management to include cargo movement, supply requirements, structure and processes, equipment and vehicles management, storage, deployment planning and operations, global fuels and cryogenics, and logistic plans under peacetime and wartime conditions to develop and recommend policies and procedures for the squadron. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Skill in analyzing issues and formulating solutions to complex problems. Ability to plan, organize and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, and evaluate options concerning base readiness. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Other significant facts of this posiiton: This is an ART position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbents regular assignment are primarily ART duties; however, you may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to fly in commercial or military aircraft for performance of temporary duty. Incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/location on a lateral or promotion as directed by HQ AFRC. This is a key management position in which the incumbent is required to formulate, determine or influence training policies of the unit to which assigned. The incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the responsibilities of inherent of a senior command position. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
