You will serve as a INFORMATION & REFERRAL ASSISTANT (OA) in the FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER (FFSC) of NAVAL STATION.

Duties

You will advise senior management on administrative procedures and programs. You will advise office clerical personnel on the maintenance and control of policy and procedure records. You will inform supervisor of changes, updates, or revisions in accordance with procedures. You will resolve administrative issues (e.g., procurement of supplies, schedule conflicts, leave requests, overtime or compensatory time requests, procurement, timekeeping) to avoid disruption to office operations. You will advise customers of regulations and standards to ensure applications are submitted correctly. You will arrange for maintenance, repair, or procurement of office equipment and supplies.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)Knowledge of the family support center mission, functions, and programs, and of the policies, regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements governing those programs; 2) Ability to collect, organize and compile vast amounts of data to prepare reports and develop/maintain a comprehensive information and referral database; 3) Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and Navy correspondence format to prepare and edit written correspondence and reports; 4) Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures common to organizations such as those pertaining to areas of responsibility; channels of communication; delegation of authority; preparation and routing of correspondence; mail distribution; and filing systems; 5) Knowledge of various office automation software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, etc.) to produce a wide range of documents that often involve complex formats or extensive editing.
