THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Project Assistant, Position Description Number D2587000 and is part of the 192 FTR WG, Langley AFB, National Guard.
Duties
As a Project Assistant (Title 32), GS-0303-07, you will perform the below duties:
1. Prepares a variety of written correspondence (i.e., emails, and memorandums), guidance, reports, program direction and/or policy letters for dissemination to other offices within the organization. Prepares presentations and spreadsheets or assists others with presentation preparation and recommends improvements to ensure a clear, concise presentation. Prepares a variety of correspondence from rough draft or clean copy with responsibility for format, grammar, accuracy, and conformity to all applicable guidance and administrative procedures of the organization. Coordinates with support entities such as logistics and information technology in order to arrange and execute presentations, classes, and other events hosted by the office.
2. Reviews, interprets and applies administrative guidelines applicable to project operations. Compiles and maintains information and statistical data to prepare various recurring and non-recurring reports on operational and administrative matters. Research files and contacts appropriate personnel for data; formulates reports and facilitates transmittal. Assigns suspense dates for recurring reports and prioritizes workload to ensure reports are submitted on time. Reviews e-mail and office calendar; engages office personnel to deconflict workloads, schedules, and leave, ensuring meetings, inspections and events are properly covered. Performs or oversees the handling, typing, distribution, and filing of office files in accordance with the current Records Management System. Prepares monthly administrative reports.
3. Performs work related to the practical and technical aspects of office administration assistance for projects/programs including issues related to budgeting, supply management and purchasing, personnel administration, time keeping, data processing, project tracking and files management. Work requires an in-depth understanding of the organizations mission and how the functional areas interrelate along with a broad understanding and procedural knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, personnel and information processing so that the incumbent can perform duties and advise on how to apply budgeting, purchasing, personnel and information processing procedures. Collects data for office operations, analyzes the data, sets up controls to monitor them and independently troubleshoots as needed.
4. May perform any of the following in support of various one-of-a-kind and non-recurring projects/programs.- Training Support. Processes actions related to attendance at service and other schools, training courses, or classes. Allocates slots, reviews submissions for regulatory compliance, and processes paperwork and orders. Advises training to Command Group and other office personnel consistent with known needs.- Deployment Support. Coordinates with units, support staff and post agencies for personnel, equipment, or facilities in support of operations for mobilization, contingencies, exercises, special projects, activities and events. Reviews mobilization plans prepared by subordinate units for compliance with plans and objectives.- Security Assistance. Serves as a Security Assistant. Assists with ensuring OPSEC measures are in place at the unit level. Assists with issuing guidance and reviewing activities concerning security of critical information and sensitive information. Assists with measures and procedures for compliance with pertinent regulations.- Automation. Performs a variety of work using automated systems. Evaluates computer resources and applications for use in the completion of projects/programs. Initiates the installation and operation of new application programs. Takes the lead in developing new methods in automating project office records and trains office staff to take full advantage of automated equipment, software and systems.- Personnel. Provides support to the Personnel Office, including managing the records, establishing and executing the automated systems, and assisting senior specialists to execute the mission. Carries out special assignments as directed by Project Coordination Specialist and project managers. These may relate to the preparation of various non-recurring reports involving the assembly of data and statistics regarding work functions of the organization. Responds to various data requests and inquiries and extracts data from a wide variety of source materials, such as, automated systems, reports, regulatory guidelines, strength reports, etc. Assembles data, analyzes results, interprets trends and prepares narrative response. Makes studies of findings from an administrative support standpoint and presents recommendations for improvement to the Project Coordination Specialist.- Logistics.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E4/SrA - E6/TSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E4/SrA - E6/TSgt) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E4/SrA - E6/TSgt)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have the experience planning, analyzing and/or evaluating the effectiveness of line or operating programs.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 9 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
