As a Lead Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing, developing, and implementing comprehensive social activities, bus trips, entertainment which generates healthy lifestyles, encourages fellowship, boosts morale, and offers stimulation to a diverse senior population of approximately 580 Residents and provides the best quality of life available to them.
Duties
As a Lead Recreation Specialist, you will:
Ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
Lead the team by assisting the Recreation Services Supervisor in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensuring that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: One year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Provides assistance with arranging and carrying out trip/activities. AND
- Working cooperatively with volunteers assigned to recreation activities or trips.
OR You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows:
A related master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. Related degrees include: general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education.
OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
