This position is located in the Fresno, CA Area Office of the Western Operations Branch, Specialty Crops Program, Agricultural Marketing Service. In this position, you will serve as an Administrative Assistant will be responsible for performing a variety of duties in support of Area Office operations.
Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Maintains filing system containing inspection personnel records.
Confirms staffing needs at raisin inspection facilities and at other plants.
Maintains a full working staff at all assignment locations to successfully provide inspection services.
Monitors an employee list which shows the hours/days worked for employees.
Prepares and issues a list that shows which employees worked after the completion of each pay period.
Assists in resolving personnel and other problems which require the attention of the sub-area supervisors and/or other supervisors.
Collects and tracks employee performance evaluations, and provides information to supervisors on missing performance evaluations.
Organizes and reviews completed inspection paperwork for accuracy and identifies errors.
Prepares reports and studies as assigned, including the filing of inspection certificates, sanitation score sheets, check loading certificates and fumigation reports.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

- Applicants must be qualified typists (40 Words Per Minute).
- Mixed Tour Work Schedule: Combination of Full Time, Part Time and Intermittent (as needed) work schedules. No minimum amount of hours is guaranteed. Position will have a fluctuating work schedule.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Experience in office procedures necessary to establish and maintain a large volume of office files and retrieve and assemble information/documents for the files.
Experience establishing rapport and conducts oneself in a tactful and diplomatic manner with the public, applicants, program officials and large numbers of employees.
Experience using a personal computer for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and other functions.
Experience communicating orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
OR Four years education above the High School level in any field of study.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Experience with correspondence management, composition, and review.
Experience in automated time and attendance reporting system(s)
Experience utilizing various electronic applications; spreadsheets, databases, word processing programs, power point and various other venues of information technology.
Experience maintaining inventory and property accountability records.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-05 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
