Duties

You will proofread reports, documents or correspondence to correct format, spelling, or grammatical errors. You will obtain documents and messages electronically using personnel computer, fax machines, and scanners to support the administrative procedures. You will serve as the Fleet Family Support Center Customer Service Desk Representative answering telephone calls and greeting walk-in visitors. You will complete submit and maintain time and attendance records within required time frame.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your self-certification on your resume will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using an office automation system to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents; 2) Preparing supply requisition requests and coordinating delivery and distribution of materials; 3) Receiving calls and responding to routine requests for information; 4) Sorting and distributing mail; and 5) Establishing and maintaining filing systems. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
