Serves as a principal liaison between flight operations and maintenance operations. Provides the highest organizational level of technical support associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible.

Duties

Provides on call Maintenance Control services to Flight Program Operations aircraft and crews. Coordinates flight schedules with maintenance requirements to ensure aircraft availability and is the focal point for coordination of Flight Program Operations aircraft maintenance planning, aircraft status information, and location. Ensures timely accomplishment of aircraft maintenance with a minimum impact on flight inspection services, worldwide. Is considered a technical expert within the organization for the assigned system or specialty area and provides airworthiness release authority to maintenance bases and personnel engaged in maintaining Flight Program Operations aircraft. Makes on time decision for schedule to resolve conflicts among maintenance and daily operations schedule. This position requires a FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate.

Qualifications

To qualify for this FV-I (FG/GS-13) position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS-12) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: experience in an Maintenance Control Center coordinating flight schedules with maintenance requirements, providing CFR 14 135 airworthiness releases, initiating, overseeing and coordinating maintenance events ensuring a timely return to service, authorizing deferrals using minimum equipment list, assist in troubleshooting aircraft flight discrepancies, authorize third party maintenance providers in accordance with the GMM for a 14 CFR Part 121 Air Carrier and/or a 14 CFR Part 135 Air Carrier in a maintenance environment.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Applicants must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate AND document experience in an Operational Control Center serving a 14 CFR Part 121 Air Carrier in a maintenance environment with scheduled service and a fleet size greater than 50 OR experience in a 14 CFR Part 135 Air Carrier in a maintenance environment with a fleet size greater than 25 or more.ALSOQUALITY RANKING FACTOR (QRF):Well-qualified applicants must possess and document experience on at least one of the following aircraft: Beechcraft King Air 90 or 300 series, Bombardier CL-600 series, or Learjet model 60.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Applicants may be asked to verify information on your application for employment with the FAA.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
