About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Manager of the Regional Occupational Health Center (ROHC) for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Atlantic Division and the Safety and Health Occupational Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
This is a CP-12 position. CP-12 Army Civilian Training, Education & Development Systems (ACTEDS) training is mandatory for personnel filing these positions.
Duties
Plan, develop, and manage the activities of the Regional Occupational Health Center (ROHC) within the broad framework of agency policies, goals and objectives
Plan and coordinate the procurement of multiple occupational health contracts to include the development and/or review of contract requirements, independent government estimates and other
Serve as the Mobile District Safety and Occupational Health Manager, with responsibility and authority to establish, administer and manage the Mobile District Safety and Occupational Health Program
Develop methods for providing safety and occupational health support of an unusual or complex nature requiring liaison with internal and external agencies and organizations
Plan and direct the activities of professional, technical and administrative support employees engaged in the implementation of the South Atlantic Division's Occupational Health Program and the Mobile District's Safety and Occupational Health Program
Perform short/long-term planning for all safety and occupational health program requirements and ensures that adequate funding is requested to meet all associated needs
Requirements
- Temporary Duty travel of up to 25% is required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One year Supervisory Probationary may be required.
- Annual Financial Disclosure is required.
- Career Program 12 certification within 12 months of employment is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a Safety and Occupational Health program for an organization that crosses multiple program elements such as safety, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health, health physics; and/or other toxic metals or chemicals; conduct safety inspections to ensure operational facilities, district office areas, field offices and construction project sites comply with federal regulation; and implement safety programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
