You will serve as a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST NETWORK of the NETWORKS & COMMS - TAMPA (55220) in the COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKS (55000) Competency of NAVWARSYSCEN ATLANTIC CHARLESTON SC

Duties

You will support the 552 SATCOM and Voice Competency Manager as the 55220 Network and Comms - Tampa Supervisor. You will support delivery of deployable satellite communication systems that provide secure voice and data. You will supervise and manage all mandatory and statutory requirements such as employee performance, travel approval, and training coordination. You will apply experience with deployable satellite antenna terminals, satellite modems and hubs, inline network encryptors, network acceleration devices, voice and video over IP, and networking at the branch and WAN levels. You will oversee efforts related to Systems Engineering support for deployable secure IP network-based SATCOM Communications on the Move (COTM) systems in all phases of the acquisition life cycle.   • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 441 level Entry/Apprentice within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Manage and oversee research, development and deployment of basic to advanced communications architectures, systems, and technologies to establish, maintain, and/or improve satellite communications systems and interfaces. . Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Define and maintain network architecture and infrastructure. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services, IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Participate in technical and project management reviews with stakeholders. 3. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Mentor, train and provide guidance to a diverse workforce with varying skillsets and experience. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency must include: Develop requirements for the acquisition of network hardware, software, and services.
