You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Counselor) in the Navy Household Goods/Personal Property Processing Office (HHG/PPPO) Store Front Section of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER JACKSONVILLE.

Duties
You will communicate with customer service team (CST) peers, customers, industry, and other services and agencies as required.
You will review orders and determine the extent of entitlements and eligibility of shipments, drayage or temporary/ non temporary storage of household goods at government expense.
You will review and finalize DD form 1299, application for shipment and/ or storage of personal property, for member/ employee signature and compile with all required documents for shipment.
You will conduct the majority of inspection by telephone; inspections will occasionally be performed at the member’s/ employee’s residence or at the TSP’s warehouse.

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing transportation assistant (counselor) work that requires utilizing a standardized knowledge of transportation modes and traffic management policies to provide counseling and quality services to military and civilian service members incident to movement of household goods. Provide counseling and entitlements in arranging and coordinating pickup, personally procured move, shipment and/or storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, boats, and mobile homes. Communicate with members/ employees, their dependents or agents to elicit their shipping needs and services desired. Experience applying a knowledge of transportation computer systems and ability to identify needs and problems using automated information system. Example of specialized experience may include: 1. Explain shipments and storage options, excess cost, special procedures for shipments under various types of orders, approximate transit time, member/ employee as well as transportation service provider (TSP) responsibilities, claims procedures and other information, relevant to the shipments/ Storage of personal property. 2. Ensure that the work of TSP's and or contractors engage in the physical handling (packing and crating) and movement of household goods comply with applicable service tenders, solicitations, contract specifications and other government regulations. 3. Execute personal property shipment management including household good entitlements, personal property, counseling, inbound and outbound shipment management, non-temporary and temporary storage, including storage entitlement, mover's liabilities and procedures for processing loss and damage claim.
