The Primary Purpose of the Position is: Provides secretarial and administrative support to the Chief, Administrative Officer, and other leadership of the Spinal Cord Injury Service.
The Organizational Location of the Position is: Spinal Cord Injury Service Administration Office, VA North Texas Health Care System, Dallas, TX.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Serves as the Secretary to the Chief, Administrative Officer, and other leadership of the Spinal Cord Injury Service. Incumbent will provide various administrative and clerical support duties.
Prepares all correspondence originating in the rough draft, medical and administrative correspondence utilizing word processing and security guidelines; using word processing function of personal computer (PC) incumbent types, in final form reports required locally, memoranda, administrative correspondence, professional correspondence, vitae, research manuscripts, research proposals, and other related material.
Provides advice and guidance to staff on administrative, clerical, and procedural requirements and instructions.
Schedules appointments and meetings; has authority to arrange meetings, time, place and attendance.
Attends meetings as indicated, takes formal minutes, types, reproduces and distributes these as specified.
Prepares agendas for meetings and fully briefed the Supervisor on matters prior to scheduled meetings.
Receives internal and external customers via phone calls or face-to-face visits.
Maintains and posts time and attendance as the primary timekeeper for the Service.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/24/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 level in federal service, that equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position and that is typically in and/or related to the position being filled. Specialized experience includes: Independently composes and prepares nontechnical correspondence, office procedures, letters of acknowledgment, service memorandum and policies; Maintains and establishes current files such as records, correspondence, publications and equipment needs; Receives internal and external customers via phone calls or face-to-face visits, in a courteous tactful and respectful manner; and Ability to adapt to changing priorities and/or the ability to handle multiple projects.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site. Incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds.
