About the Position: This position is located at Fort Meade, MD. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized.

Duties

Coordinate, plan, direct, review and evaluate branch activities. Oversee and manage all unit property upgrades and lifecycle replacement. Evaluate the effectiveness of logistics operations in terms of mission accomplishment. Complete biennial internal control review checklists for all functional areas to assure efficient and economical operation. Keep upper management informed of mission status, unusual problems encountered, and other matters of interest of requiring command decision or action to accomplish tasks. Assign work to a staff of civilian and military employees based on requirements of the assignments and capabilities of subordinates. Provide advice, counsel and instruction to assigned personnel on technical and administrative matters. Direct on-the-job training for employees, encourage employees to participate in the development of individual development plans. Perform technical supervision and oversight of military and contractor personnel in subordinate branches.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One-year supervisory probationary period required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Candidate must complete a level one assessment prior to acceptance. The assessment will consist of the following: a) Personality screening; b) Behavioral Interview and c) Physical Exam (Deployment).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated medical logistics system such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to input and retrieve data; overseeing medical supply stock levels within a medical treatment facility (MTF); implementing logistics regulations, policies, and procedures for medical supplies in accordance with organizational standards; assisting with workload distribution for subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingProduction and ProcessingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
