The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Security, Unit Deployment, and Mortuary Affairs programs.
Duties
Serve as Primary Squadron Security Manager.
Implements and Administers the Personnel Security Program for the organization.
Serves as Primary Unit Deployment Manager (UDM).
Serves as Mortuary Affairs Program Technician.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze and resolve difficult and complex security problems; apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels of degree of security controls; knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs; knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology, of military organizational readiness, wartime deployment/redeployment/reconstruction processes and techniques, training techniques, and use of special equipment.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Extensive knowledge of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
2. Extensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology of military organizational readiness, wartime deployment/redeployment/reconstitution processes and techniques, training techniques, and use of special equipment.
3. Knowledge of the Air Force Mortuary Affairs and Search and Recovery Operations/programs principles, practices, procedures and regulations, benefits and entitlements for active-duty military members, retired military members and dependents to be able to assist family members in making decisions concerning funeral arrangements within an area of responsibility.
4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers, customers, and mission partners contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands
The incumbent is required to stand for extended periods, walk over uneven terrain, and drive a government vehicle, when overseeing mortuary/readiness/SAR activities. This position while administrative in nature, will demand extensive physical effort in order to carry out program responsibilities on a frequent basis. The coordination of a mortuary case will involve communication with state, local, and federal offices throughout CONUS. Incumbent will provide mortuary services and may be required to travel across the CONUS to provide services, as well as out to the range complex for SAR operations.
Work Environment
The Mortuary/Readiness program involves daily risks, which require normal safety precautions typical of this specialty. Office work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work outdoors is affected by the climate.
