This position is one of the Motor Vehicle Operator(s) located in the Textile Care Section of Environmental Management Service. Employee is under the direct supervision of the Laundry Operations Manager. Primarily assigned to deliver clean and pick up soiled linen to/from the Consolidated Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF) located at the Bay Pines VAHCS, to/from the Tampa VA Health Care System and to/from the Orlando VAHCS utilizing a tractor trailer and box truck with air brakes.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Deliver clean and pick up soiled linen from/to the Consolidated Textile Care Processing Facility located at Bay Pines.
Responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle they are performing their assigned duties in, .specifically tractor trailer and box truck with air brakes.
Perform driving duties to VA Tampa, VA Orlando and Lee County VA.
Keep vehicles clean and free of debris at all times, inside and out.
Accomplish daily safety inspections of the vehicles tires, brakes, horn, lights and windshield wipers; checking the oil and coolant levels and refueling as necessary.
Safely operate the hydraulic lift in the process of loading and unloading linen carts onto and off the vehicle.
Interact with customers, veterans, their representatives, visitors and all Department of Veteran Affairs staff in a cooperative and professional manner.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 4:00 am - 12:30 pm with Occasional Weekends and Holidays

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to climb into and out of the vehicle. Position routinely requires that individual operate vehicles, electrical equipment and must exert physical effort to load, unload and transport by pushing and pulling clean and soiled linen carts in a controlled manner weighing up to 700 pounds, in and out of Laundry truck, to and from loading docks to various locations within the Textile Care Processing Facility.
Working Conditions: Employee will work normally 8 hour shift. Work is performed both inside and outside in all weather conditions. The employee must be constantly aware of fluctuating weather conditions, such as periods of extreme heat in summer, rain, slick road conditions and snow covered and icy roads and dock facilities in winter. Work is normally performed inside the cab of an air conditioned or heated vehicle, however Driver will load and unload truck on dock in rain, heat, sun, wind.
