You will serve as a RIGGER LEADER in the PUBLIC WORKS BUSINESS LINE of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will support Crane and Rigging operations by assisting with the planning and coordination of work for the Rigging Supervisor. You will Continuously review, and spot checks work already in progress and/or upon completion and ensure the crane and rigging supervisor's instructions on work sequence, quality and quantity of production are met. You will select and install cables, ropes, chains, and other weight handling gear to lift, move, and position heavy loads. You will assist in moving barges and floating cranes in dockside operations. You will have overall control of the operation including planning all aspects of the lift, determining the weight of the load to be lifted, and establishing the appropriate method of communication with the operator. You will operate forklifts of various sizes for moving items throughout the area.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You must have completed the Crane Rigger Course outlined in NAVFAC P-307, and when designated, must be able to fulfill the duties of a rigger in charge as per 10.2.1.1 NAVFAC P307.
  • All personnel assigned to this position must qualify as ammunition and Hazardous Material Handler (AMHAZ). Personnel will be provided the necessary information and training to enable them to pass a basic written qualification test.
  • Call back, overtime and weekend work is a regular requirement of this position.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Actively participating in the pre-job brief; 2) Supporting crane and rigging operations by assisting with the planning; 3) Determining the best methods and work sequences to use in the accomplishment of extensive and complex mobile crane operations.
