About the Position: Serve as the Security Specialist for the Security Programs of the Headquarters and select Assistant Directors and Field Offices of the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division (DACID), responsible for managing the full range of security programs within CID.
Duties
Ensure all assigned personnel have the proper background check and access to handle the appropriate level of classified or sensitive information to perform their duties.
Provide guidance, recommendation, and assistance to staff, supervisors, and employees concerning physical security systems, physical protection devices, and personnel access control.
Ensure proper procedures and guidance is provided to all staff and subordinate elements on safeguarding, marking, transmitting, and destroying of classified and unclassified materials.
Advise subordinate offices during the creation of new contracts on security concerns and in development of the DD254 for classified contracts.
Conduct announced and unannounced security inspections and staff assistance visits (SAV) to the subordinate DACID Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
Develop and provide annual OPSEC training.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the employee to obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within two years of employment.
- Must sign DA Form 5019-Rnand must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Position is subject to random drug testing IAW AR 600-85.
- This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent of the position will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: implement and maintain security programs including Industrial Security; conduct inspections of security programs, facilities, and operations; evaluate work to protect and safeguard classified and/or sensitive information; and ensure compliance with security policies and guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
