The primary purpose of this position is: To perform the full range of substantive clerical and procedural work and initiate, process and review a variety of personnel records and actions in support of the Records Processing section for individuals arriving into the U.S. Air Force and to provide office automation support.
Duties
Reviews records and interviews basic trainees
Conducts substantive review of education and military personnel records (e.g., comparing data such as test scores and education) to determine AFSC codes
Updates, inquires, and processes actions through automated systems
Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc
Performs up to six briefings daily to trainees, which gives the trainee instructions to procedures to follow while in Records Processing

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions, Human Resources Assistance, Series 0203.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: working knowledge of a body of standardized military HR rules, procedures or operations requiring considerable training and experience to the assigned military personnel area(s) to perform the full range of standard transactions and to resolve recurring problems. Knowledge of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel record. Knowledge of the organization and its functions and programs to answer inquiries of a general nature or to refer them to the responsible staff member.

EDUCATION: Completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a standardized body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to military enlistments of the format, content, and uses of the military personnel record and the procedures and requirements regarding its maintenance.
2. Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters and the ability to find, read and interpret pertinent regulations and directives.
3. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures.
4. Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and dog tags.
5. Knowledge of basic word processing functions. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required (40 WPM).
6. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy and maintain effective work relationships.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
