Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

Acts as the principal staff action officer for spectrum issues related to terrestrial and space-based systems in order to develop, coordinate and oversee the implementation of DoD policies and strategic plans for management and use of the electromagnetic spectrum for all spectrum dependent equipment including: C3 and space systems, radars, weapons guidance systems, navigation systems, and electronic warfare systems with an emphasis on electronic warfare systems and other weapons systems exploiting spectrum.
Examines strategies, processes, and resources for fundamentally improving and modernizing spectrum management processes across DoD, people (spectrum workforce) and emerging technology to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction addressing spectrum policy auctions, access requirements, applications and innovation.
Conducts oversight, management, and guidance for EMS and EMSO automation, acquisitions, IT modernization, Command and Control integration, electromagnetic battle management, spectrum situational awareness and other EMS/EMSO related matters.
Determines technical requirements and oversees complex analyses regarding use of the electromagnetic spectrum, including spectrum re-purposing initiatives and 5G+ capabilities.

- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business, inside and outside the
continental U.S. on military or commercial aircraft.

You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your knowledge of spectrum dependent systems, spectrum management statutes, policies and procedures, and their application to developing major programs; and application of analytical techniques to solve complex and unstructured management, acquisition and information technology problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
