The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of advocate tasks between hospital personnel, patients, families, and communities to provide awareness an understanding of medical health condition, and inform and update on patient self-determination act and other related hospital activities. This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Division of Quality Management, Chinle, AZ.
Duties
NOTE: This position is being announced concurrently with announcement IHS-24-CH-12249161-ESEP/MP for candidates at the GS-07 grade level, please review vacancy announcement for eligibility requirements. Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered for each grade level.
Assures and advocates for patients and families.
Responds to potential guest dissatisfaction through review of patient charts.
Determines an appropriate course of action to provide optimum service when patient presents with issues and problems.
Assist in providing orientation to new staff.
Participates in conferences, workshops, and literature review.
Prepares and submits reports and statistical data on a monthly and yearly basis.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Applicants who meet at least one of the following requirements may qualify for positions at the GS-07
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level obtained in either the public or private sector. Example of specialized experience: advocate for patients and families, explain or interpret the Patient Bill of Rights, provide info or interpret treatment plans, respond or resolve issues or complaints, determine course of action, recommend solution or improvement, communicate, research, provide orientation to new staff, prepare reports.
One full year of graduate education in an area of study directly related to the work of this position.
A combination of education and specialized experience listed above. One year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours unless the school has determined otherwise.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
