The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Licensed Paramedic or a Certified EMT to provide advanced and intermediate emergency medical care. This position is located at Chinle Service Unit (CSU), Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF), Division of Nursing Services (DNS), Nursing Administration, Patient Transport Program, Chinle, Arizona.

Duties

NOTE: This position is being announced concurrently with announcement IHS-24-CH-12234285-ESEP/MP for candidates at the GS-06/07 grade level, please review vacancy announcement for eligibility requirements. Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered for each grade level. Conducting and carrying a wide variety of health care to a wide diversity of people and clients in a variety of patient care settings. Assisting physicians with complex, specialized, and potentially life threatening procedures. Performing airway management using Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP) and advanced airway techniques. Changing and applying dressing for wound management. Making an independent preliminary assessment as to scene safety and patient status. Transporting patients varying from stable to critically ill patients to and from the airport, transporting air ambulance teams and specified equipment deemed necessary for transport. Performing preventative maintenance services and washes the transport vehicle.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR A licensed Paramedic and/or Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required. (You must provide a copy of your license and/or certification along with your resume). AND BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assisting with behavioral situations, providing interventions, performing airway management, administering oxygen, operating ambulances, ensuring comfort of patient transports, performing preventative maintenance services on transport vehicles, maintaining professional knowledge in paramedics, and maintaining compliance with Joint Mission Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
