The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Operations Support Specialist for the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) Commander's Action Group (CAG). Manages the Commander's strategic engagements decision-support process to determine flag officer engagements with DoD, government, international, academic, civic, media, and industry audiences.
Duties
Manages the Commander's strategic engagements decision-support process to determine flag officer engagements.
Produces and submits decision briefs for the Commander's determination of which events to accept, defer to select Command leadership, or decline attendance.
Manages strategic engagement event data and tracks Commander's decisions.

- Position is designated special-sensitive and requires a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information
- Cont. or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Per 5 CFR 732.202, the investigative requirement CANNOT be waived for special sensitive positions. The selectee must
- Cont. possess this clearance prior to starting in the position. In the event the selectee does not possess this clearance, the full investigation and favorable security adjudication must be completed and rendered prior to beginning in the position

- This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the
- Cont. Air Force, national security, and public safety. Therefore, incumbent is required to: (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs and misuse of prescription medication, and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing on short notice
- Incumbent must pass initial and may be selected for random drug testing. May be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident

- The employee may be required to work overtime or uncommon tour of duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. May be subject to off-duty hours on-call, particularly during special events and emergencies
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station in performance of temporary duty assignment (TDY) to include travelling on military or commercial aircraft
- Position is eligible for telework on a regular and reoccurring or situational basis while requiring occasional visits to duty location based on the mission directive and discretion of the supervisor. A telework agreement must be signed
- Previous experience working in a command section/front office or Commander’s Action Group role is highly desirable
- May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent
- TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL BE PAID by gaining unit in accordance with the JTR AND AFMAN 36-606

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes : independently noting and following-up on commitments made at meetings/conferences; advising others on preparing correspondence, requirements for various reports, and interpreting new instructions and procedures. Locating and summarizing information from files and documents that requires recognizing which information is or is not relevant to the problem at hand. Managing events involving senior military, civilian, government, industry, and/or international partners senior leadership. Knowledge of military command structure; USSPACECOM's mission, goals and objectives, and organization; the sequence and timing of key events and milestones; and of the various Command entities and their associated mission/area of responsibility.

EDUCATION: I have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have less than the full amount of specialized experience required but I have more than 2 years of graduate level education with a major or subject area related to the position to be filled. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Joint military command structures, organizational relationships, and combatant command missions and objectives.
2. Knowledge of process sequence, methods of evaluating outcome effectiveness, and planning actions to achieve objectives.
3. Skill in oral and written communication; communicates clearly, concisely, and with accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Skill in staff level planning, organizing, and overseeing critical aspects of command strategic engagements; ability to adapt to situational offsets.
5. Ability to manage priorities for multiple tasks and adjust workload to quickly produce and modify products.
6. Ability to maintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues to achieve effective and timely outcomes.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
