The incumbent in this position serves as the executive assistant to the Chief of Medical Administration Service of the Miami VA Healthcare System.
Duties
Receive more specific supervisory direction than at the target level regarding work methods, procedures, objectives, and priorities.
Work will be subject to more frequent and closer review than at the target level.
Provide instructions and/or training in the performance of assigned duties, particularly for those duties that are new, unfamiliar, and relatively complex.
Work will be reviewed during and after completion to evaluate: adequacy of methods, procedures, and results; ability to apply skills and knowledge to routine and non-routine assignment; and adherence to basic policy and instructions.
Demonstrates competence in performance of assigned work, the degree of supervision will be progressively reduced.
Promotion Potential: Upon satisfactory completion of statutory requirements and contingent upon the recommendation of the supervisor, the incumbent may be promoted to GS 11.
Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/17/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade Gs-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Monitors, analyzes, implements and follows-up with all customer complaints; track and trend, update supervisors, management team, and other managers within the medical center. Serves as a problem-solver and troubleshooter resource to the facility and other VA facilities in the Medical Administration Service. Develops and/or maintains all systems of internal reviews and a quality assurance program to insure all programs are effective and operating at a high level. Works with management to formulate, develop, and implement policies for Medical Administration Service that impact the Medical center. Possesses administrative responsibility to recommend hires, coordinate the work of the office, recommend evaluation and train all MAS staff in administrative issues such as Timekeeping, HR issues, etc. Provides management advisory service on all aspects of improving processes within the service. Analyzes management techniques, processes, and styles for improving organizational effectiveness. Gathers and maintains valid data used to develop, evaluate, and modify organizational structure and systems to achieve program goals Leads in the analysis, interpretation of other data used in resource planning.
