About the Position: Serve as an Operations Research Analyst leading, planning, and executing analysis in a systematic and rigorous manner to examine operational and strategic level issues, questions, problem sets, and scenarios to inform decision-makers.

Duties

Develop new methods, tools, and analytical techniques for conducting management studies. Research and test traditional operational research methodologies for use in the manpower requirements' determination and planning process. Develop and apply mathematical models, workload-based templates, data analysis and applications, to include reviews and validates MACOM developed models and methodologies. Determine applicability of various analytical methods and methodologies appropriate to the particular problem under study. Recognize and correct methodology or model errors and alters existing models for unique applications.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required.
  • This is a testing designated position. Personnel are required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • Top Secret (SCI) clearance required.

Basic Requirement for an Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing and communicating statistics and regression techniques through which the factors and operational relationships can be valued and measured; presenting study information in briefings and discussions with other analyst, review panels, and study sponsors; directing analytical efforts and model development while providing technical expertise to management study analysts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceManpower & PersonnelResearch Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
