The primary purpose of this position is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

Duties

Conducts extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. Prepares recurring and special reports.Compiles statistics from data requiring substantial analysis, interpretation, and development of new formats. Performs administrative office support functions and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials. Assigned as the Contracting Officer Representative and manages assigned Special Project/Programs and performs reviews and extensive analysis to determine the impact on Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes.

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours such as rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, call back, holidays, etc.
  • May be required to carry a beeper.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the use of a Government Purchase Card.
  • Familiarity with Air Force contracting programs and practices is highly desired.
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if (con't)
  • (con't) alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES:Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS (CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES): Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR APPLICANTS WITH NO PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
