About the Position: This position is located at the Military Police School at Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri. Ft Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Ft Leonard Wood.

Duties

Serve as Course Manager, principal training instructor, and technical subject matter expert (SME) in Department of the Army (DA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Physical Security for the USAMPS Conventional Physical Security Course (CPSC) and the Security Guard portion of the Department of the Army Civilian Police (DACP)/Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) Supervisors Course (Online). Analyze proposed student loads, current programs, and available resources and coordinate course constraints with the Department of the Army. Manage the administration and execution of the CPS course to include all course paperwork for student registration and academic records. Coordinate, plan, and execute training and course administration including scheduling classes and training areas, requesting support materials and facilities, and maintaining class records to include examinations and student academic records. Develop and manage the Conventional Physical Security Course (CPSC) and Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) United States Military Police School programs of instruction (POI) within the Training and Doctrine Command. Advise on and recommend solutions to problems which affect training and doctrine, policies, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • This position requires the employee to be a successful graduate of the USAMPS courses assigned, but not limited to, Army Basic Instructor Training Course (ABIC), Army Systems Approach to Training (SAT),
  • Maneuver Support Centers of Excellence (MSCoE), U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS), and Law Enforcement Operations (LEOPS) Branch Instructor Certifications
  • and other military or on-line leadership and courses as assigned. Required Courses must be completed as scheduled by the Branch Chief.
  • The employee may be required to work schedule and unscheduled overtime.
  • The employee may be recalled to duty.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
  • Drivers must complete an approved Accident Avoidance Course (AAC) in order to drive non-tactical vehicles dispatched from the Transportation Motor Pool (TMP).
  • This position requires the employee to successfully graduate the Conventional Physical Security/Crime Prevention Course.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain certification as an Army Basic Instructor.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. This position requires the employee to operate, maintain, and receipt for various weapons systems used within training.
  • The employee must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position GS-09. OR Education: I have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or Forensics Science. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
