You will serve as an N65A Deputy Combat Systems Officer in the Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet of COMNAVSURFPAC.

Duties

You will provide continuity in the oversight of Combat Systems maintenance. You will review correspondence for quality, formal adherence to governing instructions and content accuracy. You will originate tasking correspondence (letters and messages) to all activities involved in the planning and execution of Combat Systems maintenance and readiness efforts. You will provide subject matter expertise and continuity in the development and implementation of Combat Systems maintenance policies. You will evaluate and formulate new techniques for the analysis of specific problems involving many varied, complex features and recommend a corrective course of action through improved process design and criteria. You will provide recommendations to “what if “ situations requiring you to be versatile and innovative in adapting, modifying, and exploring alternatives within standard guidelines to create new techniques or criteria. You will monitor and investigate surface ship Combat Systems Casualty Reports. You will communicate, coordinate and collaborate with other departments, stakeholders, and ships to resolve complex logistic and programmatic difficulties. You will provide feedback of the status of surface ships by providing timely input to daily reports and other reporting systems as appropriate. You will analyze and recommend action for a broad spectrum of ships Combat Systems configuration changes and Combat Systems maintenance requests. You will provide experience in design interface and maintenance planning as part of the systems engineering process and provide analysis, technical studies, and reports showing the impact on operational readiness. You will develop, maintain, and conduct indoctrination and training in procedures and policies. You will act as liaison for all issues pertaining to the maintenance of missile launchers, gun weapons systems, and combat systems equipment. You will prepare correspondence and instructions addressing the Combat Systems Maintenance process. You will serve as primary representative on all Combat Systems Warfare System Certification panels. You will represent equities at various Combat Systems Maintenance Programs and Development meetings and conferences. You will conduct business in accordance with higher level guidance / instructions. You will develop and maintain processes to capture and use Combat Systems maintenance “lessons learned” both by equipment specific data and ship class. You will monitor events of the readiness assessments. You will manage the scheduling, funding and tracking of all Combat Systems Assessment and Training.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: advising, planning, or reviewing services to evaluate and provide recommendations for the execution and sustainment of combat or weapons systems.
