This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Research Services (R). The incumbent in this position serves as a manager and customer liaison on matters pertaining to research room operations and programs, working closely with managers and other supervisors to develop plans and coordinate efforts to enhance each individual experience.

Duties

As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will: Manage Research Room operations and other customer service focused areas. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs, policies, and procedures and make recommendations to modify them to achieve goals, as necessary. Ensure quality information related to NARA products and services is consistently delivered. Determine information requirements, procedures/policies to improve customer service responsiveness/efficiency of the research room operations. Provide training/guidance to subordinate staff to assure consistency of operations and to implement new approaches to working with research customers.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Communicating with customers internally and externally to provide information and resolve issues; AND Resolving complex customer service issues; AND Leading a team, program or project, using time management to complete work within set deadlines; AND Analyzing, evaluating or developing formal policies and procedures. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
