Duties

You will facilitate the transport of voice, video, and data services throughout the organization using knowledge of communications concepts (e.g., transmission media, data transfer, ground to ground radio, or similar means). You will receive and process requests for installation, moves, and changes of telephone equipment and voice mail for offices and sites. You will perform technical functions to assist with the planning and installation of video teleconferencing (VTC) systems and associated facilities. You will interpret policy from higher levels to develop local telecommunications policies and instructions. You will use rules, regulations, initiatives, policies, and procedures related to telecommunications to meet operational requirements. You will coordinate with other telecommunications systems for compatibility with existing systems. You will manage personnel (e.g., civilian, military, contractors) associated with contingent or regular operation execution to identify performance levels and meet operational requirements.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
  • You may be subject to recall of duty.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 802 level B within 12 months of appointment

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As the Telecommunication Manager you will be responsible for the network planning for future projected systems capabilities and requirements; prepare and/or review equipment procurement and installation; provide liaison between technical personnel developing detail specifications and customer problems and/or delays; review and develop programming fund documents from vendor proposals; and negotiate project issues on behalf of the organization at meetings.
