The Program Support Assistant / Instructional Specialist is the facility trainer for the National MSA training initiative, to include working with multiple software packages. The employee will provide support to the Group Practice manager as a scheduling subject matter expert, providing training and process recommendations for the Iowa City VA Health Care System, including associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Train new and existing employees on national policies, local procedure, and computer applications involved in the scheduling process.
Develop and conduct all training related to the scheduling process.
Conduct periodic reviews to ensure access roster of staff is compliant.
Serve as primary facilitator for several professional development programs, such as New Employee Orientation, Speed of Trust, Own the Moment, etc.
Conduct training needs assessments and develop new training packages.
Continually update and improve the training and learner experience in every training event.
Provide direct customer support for staff throughout the ICVAHCS concerning issues with network access, computer hardware, software, and user training.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/11/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Minimum Qualifications for GS-07: You must qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing various administrative duties, such as preparing documents, reports, maintaining databases; utilizing various software programs related to the clinical scheduling process; developing training materials; and assisting with training new and existing employees on applicable policies and procedures.
