This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Atlantic Area, National Strike Force, Coast Guard Incident Management Assist Team in Norfolk, VA.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an ICS Planning Section Chief (PSC) during operational deployments and/or as a coach for Incident Management Team (IMT) workshops and exercises at other Coast Guard units. While in garrison (not deployed), the incumbent serves as the CG-IMAT workshop and exercise coordinator; to include scheduling Sector CG-IMAT workshops and exercises through the Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop (IPPW), conducting CG-IMAT Reserve Coordination, developing and refining current and future unit led workshop scenarios, supported exercises, webinars and exportable training modules, to improve overall Incident Management Team readiness across the Coast Guard. The incumbent also has broad knowledge of ICS principles, maintains other ICS qualifications, and may deploy in those qualifications as required. The incumbent will maintain personal and professional readiness and be available for short-notice deployments per unit policies. The incumbent provides a level of expertise sufficient to provide ICS coaching and outreach to support readiness throughout the Coast Guard.

Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
Specialized experience include: providing advice, guidance and policy assistance to various agencies and international work groups in regards to contingency preparedness programs; maintaining liaison with other agencies and performing inter/intra agency coordination work; conducting analysis of agency contingency preparedness programs to ensure implementation of policy, and recommending alternatives or modifications to existing policy; Serving as senior planning officer for exercise preparedness development and evaluation with responsibility to review and edit staff work.
