You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY MANAGEMENT DIVISION of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

Duties

You will serve as the Security Specialist, Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Clerk for the Communications Security (COMSEC) Account with the COMSEC Material System (CMS) and will be responsible to the KMI Operational Account Manager. You will be responsible for proper handling, storing, safeguarding and accountability of all CMS material, equipment, related devices and operating and maintenance manuals. You will ensure all CMS functions are completed successfully and error free at all times and complies with all Naval and local instructions concerning KMI and CMS. You will maintain and preserve all configuration of reports, files, data, and COMSEC library as required by governing directives. You will assist with COMSEC inventories, destruction of COMSEC material, scheduling of various sessions and events, answer and reply to numerous and assorted channels of communications. You will assist in acquiring, monitoring, and maintain the command keying material and COMSEC equipment allowance.

  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country’s laws/regulations.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: providing administrative support and security guidance for communications security (COMSEC) matters and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI); and ensuring proper handling, storage, and safeguarding of COMSEC material. This position is within the Work Category 441 at Work Level INTERMEDIATE, Series and Grade GG-09. Education

In lieu of the specialized experience listed above, applicants may also qualify for the position with the following education requirement:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree

OR
