Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division will allow you to develop, conduct, and review training for the protective intelligence training programs. This Training Specialist position starts at a salary of $99,200 (GS-12 step 1), with potential to $128,956 (GS-12 step 10).  For more information on the USSS click here.

The selectee will serve as a Training Specialist in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information (SII), Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division (PID). Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications

Individual Occupational Requirements: Applicants MUST meet the following Individual Occupational Requirements for the Training Instruction Series 1712. Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:• Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).• Supervising or administering a training program.• Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.• Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirements, applicants must also qualify for the GS-12 level based on your experience as described below:• Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include performing duties such as: developing curricula, lesson plans, and training/course materials such as PowerPoint and practical exercises. designing, developing, and delivering training and instruction in person and/or in an online environment. developing and reviewing training/course materials, student guides, aids, devices and evaluation of training results. Identifying training needs (i.e., needs analysis), improvements, goals and performance standards for curriculum and lesson plans. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one), "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply. Qualifications Must Be Met: The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement.The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
