The primary purpose of the Prosthetic clerk is to perform a variety of clerical activities in support of PSAS clinical operations, purchasing, and benefits program management, responding to general inquiries maintaining accurate electronic health records, and coordinating the receipt, shipment and distribution of goods and equipment necessary for management of overall operations, ensuring accurate data entry of all actions.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinating or recording patient activities.
Initial service-line point of contact, providing first-call resolution support to all PSAS clinics and program.
Receives telephone inquiries, ascertaining and documenting the nature of the requests and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
Completes and routes receiving reports for replacement inventory items and special order items for individual patients.
Assist in making benefit eligibility verification.
Maintain contact with medical and clerical staff to resolve delays and misunderstandings regarding the provision of services.
Track and order offices supplies and completes orders through the Remote Order Entry System (ROES).
Government purchase card holder for non-prosthetic specific purpose funded items.
Provide ad-hoc support to the wheelchair repair team by coordinating the transportation and delivery of power mobility devices between various locations with the medical center.
Work Schedule: M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/10/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating or recording patient activities.

Physical Requirements: Most of the work is non-sedentary. There is considerable walking; standing; bending; carrying/lifting of items up to 35 lbs. such as equipment and supplies provided to beneficiaries. Incumbent must be able to move equipment, such as boxed wheelchairs on occasion. Some work is sedentary to record patients' records, respond to e-mails, etc.
