About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.This position is located at the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT), Deputy Chief Of Staff, G-2 Signals Intelligence Branch, Colorado Spring, CO 80916.

Duties

Serves as subject matter expert or technical advisor on Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) in support of intelligence research and intelligence operations. Determines signal characteristics of waveforms or bit levels necessary for the exploitation of signals of interest. Advises on, supervises, and performs in-depth signals analysis, research and other technical work in the analysis and evaluation of signals data on the latest commercial based and emerging technologies. Provides assistance with the development, deployment or collection, documentation, threat attribution, and evaluation of live environment signals and recordings of new or previously exploited data. Liaises with NSA, USSPACECOM, USSTRATCOM, INSCOM, and other space and SIGINT organizations across the Department of Defense to share data and techniques, findings, and planning for future operations.

Requirements

  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency and Defense Intelligence Agency-accredited facilities and networks.
  • Functions as intelligence officer on a 24/7 Crisis Action Team / Crisis Response Cell as required for actual operations or in support of exercises. Shift work, irregular tours of duty, and/or extended duty will be required.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraph examination and re-examinations on a periodic basis.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled.This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
