About the Position: Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist, responsible for providing technical guidance in compliance with OSHA standards, procedures, and regulations.

Duties

Schedules, conducts, and inputs facilities inspections findings into the Army Safety Management Information System (ASMIS) 2.0 database. Conducts 30, 60 and 90 day follow up with facility manager on corrective action plan to ensure completion. Performs quantitative fit testing and manages respiratory protection program for the installation. Conducts Arms Room inspections for safety and licensing to include inspection of the installation Ammunition Supply Point. Conducts Playground and Child Youth Services Facilities quarterly inspections and inputs findings into ASMIS 2.0. Conducts annual Safety Program assessments for specific assigned garrison Directorates and agencies. Inputs assessments into ASMIS and Installation Status Report quarterly. Receives and inputs accident/mishap data from assigned directorate or other sources into ASMIS 2.0. Assists with Class A or B fatality and injury investigations as a safety technical advisor.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires the incumbent to have or attain a valid Driver's License.
• This position requires the incumbent to have or attain CP-12 Professional Level I Certificate within 12 months of employment.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
